Like other pedals by the NY-based pedal builder, the Summer School Electronics Extra Credit is based on a simple but clever idea: a clean boost works better in tracks that have a more sparse arrangement, while a booster that pushes the higher frequencies of your tone works better on denser tracks, by giving your signal a little more edge.
The Extra Credit delivers both things in one box, via two completely different circuits.
The regular Boost mode (toggle to the left) gives you a clean transistor-based boost, while the Boost & Brightness mode (toggle to the right) routes your signal through a transistor-based boost, while engaging the Brightness circuit controllable via the right knob.
The Extra Credit is available in in standard yellow with black knobs and red LED, or a limited edition orange with blue knobs and blue LED.
You can try it in person at the upcoming Brooklyn Synth & Pedal Expo.
