Here’s an update about the growth of Delicious Audio in 2020
GOOGLE SEARCHES UP ~90% SINCE APRIL
These days an average of 1,700 unique visitors come to Delicious Audio every day through Google searches – all musicians who are actively researching pedals. Here’s a screenshot from our site’s Google Search Console (click for a bigger version):
If you are interested in checking out our progress compared to before the pandemic, you can see where we were at in the Spring of 2020 in this chart (spoiler: under 1k searches per day!).
These are the articles that are attracting most of this traffic, thanks to the fact that they top key Google searches.They generate a fair amount of pedal sales through our affiliate programs.
UNIQUE VISITORS UP ~70% SINCE APRIL, NOW 60k/MO.
This growth was mostly due to a shift of focus on the blog triggered by the event-killing pandemic: since I couldn’t organize my Pedal and Synth Expos, I had time to post new blog content and focus on SEO.
Other items like weekly newsletter (now going out to almost 40k addresses), our first virtual pedal event and giveaways helped us grow our traffic from under 40k to over 60k unique visitors per month – here’s the screnshot from our Google Analytics (click for a bigger version):
SWEETWATER AFFILIATE PROGRAM
These numbers convinced Sweetwater to let us join their affiliate program, which is important for us because it pays a 4%-8% commission on sales compared to the 3% of Amazon and Ebay and the 1% of Reverb – we are actively linking to all these platforms to allow our readers to compare prices and buy pedals from any builder.
HOW TO GET YOUR PEDALS ON DELICIOUS AUDIO
Because of its unique video aggregator format, any effect that’s covered by the main YouTube pedal videographers will be covered in Delicious Audio – so get them to shoot your pedals! Our shopping guides organized by effect try to expand the coverage to lesser known devices – feel free to email us if you think one of your pedals should be included in one of those lists.
