Beetronics Seabee Lite

Beetronics took their gloriously overcomplicated Seabee and stripped it down to the good parts.

The Seabee Lite is still a fully analog BBD chorus, but now you don’t need a PhD to operate it. Three modes, six knobs, two toggles, and a pair of footswitches that do more than just bypass.

The original Seabee had 16 modes, secondary functions, and a learning curve shaped like a cliff. The Lite keeps the soul of the circuit but ditches the complexity for players who just want to twist knobs and play. It’s not a downgrade. It’s a different philosophy.

This thing rewards screwing around. It’s not for the player who wants one chorus sound and never touches it again. It’s for the player who wants to manipulate modulation in real time: hold a footswitch for instant chaos, change LFO BMO mid-song through tap tempo, switch between chorus and vibrato mid-song. It’s a performance tool disguised as a chorus pedal.

The enclosure is still that signature beehive aesthetic: golden, hexagonal, slightly ridiculous in the best way. The Lite comes in cream or pink, which is more restrained than their usual psychedelic finishes, but the knobs still feel like they belong on a steampunk submarine.

Controls (only the unusual ones):

  • Classic/Flangee/Wobblee (toggle): Three distinct BBD voices. Classic is your 80s rack chorus—wide, clean, timeless. Flangee adds heavy feedback for dramatic jet sweeps. Wobblee introduces tape-style drift and instability, like your delay line is hungover.
  • Chorus/Vibee (toggle): Chorus mode keeps dry signal mixed in for subtle width. Vibee kills the dry path entirely for pure pitch-wobble vibrato.
  • Filter (toggle): Shapes only the wet signal. Band Pass for mid-focused warmth, Flat for full-frequency response, High Pass for cutting low-end rumble.
  • Rate Boost (hold left footswitch): Temporarily multiplies the LFO speed. Release to snap back. Instant chaos button.
  • Depth Boost (hold right footswitch): Pushes the modulation depth to maximum while held. Like stepping on a vibrato pedal that only exists when you want it.
  • Feedback: Controls regeneration in the BBD line. Low settings are subtle chorus. High settings push into flange territory with metallic resonance.

The remaining controls are standard: Rate (LFO speed), Depth (intensity), Mix (wet/dry balance). Tap tempo syncs modulation to your song.

16 presets, MIDI, stereo outs, expression input. $329. Finally, a Beetronics pedal that won’t require reading glasses.
