Fortin Amplification has released the KALI Preamp/Distortion pedal, the third in its preamp series following the NATAS and MESHUGGAH models. Designed to deliver the sonic character of Fortin’s CALI amp, the KALI pedal channels decades of amp modding heritage, including influences from Jose Arredondo’s pioneering work. It offers a wide tonal range—from vintage Plexi-style brightness to aggressive modern metal distortion.
The pedal features three switchable gain modes (VINT, SAT, RAW), each with a dedicated three-position bright switch, and a responsive 3-band active EQ that allows both cutting and boosting of frequencies. An additional stomp switch provides extra gain, positioning the KALI as a versatile tool for guitarists seeking high-performance tone shaping.
Although inspired by the CALI amp, the pedal was named KALI to avoid confusion with Origin Effects’ existing Cali product line. Fortin received permission to use the name for the amp but chose a distinct name for the pedal. According to Fortin, the KALI pedal closely replicates the tone and feel of the CALI amp, especially when paired with its power section or the NEURAL DSP CALI suite.
Made in the U.S., the KALI pedal is built for players who demand precision, power, and tonal flexibility.
