The gorgeous take on the Binson Echorec echo by Danish company T-Rex was unveiled about six years ago at the 2017 Winter NAMM show. The company went through a complicated time immediately after that announcement and no news of its release were share until the unit re-emerged at the NAMM 2023 show.
For the unaware, the Echorec was an Italian-made echo effect from the ’50s based on a magnetic drum system, rather than tape, and was the first to deliver what today is commonly referred to as a “multi-tap” delay. It became the delay effect of choice of many legendary guitarists, including Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour.
The T-Rex Binson Echorec is very close to the original, but with the controls on the top and a footswitch, and with a modern addition that allows it to deliver longer delays up to 1.2 seconds. Additionally, this unit allows controlling the volume of each head through a potentiometer in the back of the case.
