Based out of Boise, Idaho, Vanilla Sundae Pedals focuses on hand-made compact dirt boxes with names (and colors) borrowed by ice cream classics. The English Toffee Iscream is their take on the classic dual op-amp circuits of the late ’70s – early ’80s, read Tube Screamer 808.
While this pedal has the 808’s typical mid-frequency boost, it’s well-balanced, and the circuit can add an extra crunch when the toggle switch is set on “Clip.”
Responsive to touch and interactive with your guitar’s volume, the Vanilla Sundae English Toffee Iscream can run at 18v for extra headroom.
Vanilla Sundae English Toffee Iscream, builder’s notes
The English Toffee iSCREAM is designed around the classic dual op-amp circuits of the late 70’s – early 80’s. This time we took this iconic circuit and gave it a British kind of flavor.
While its mid-range presence is not overpowering, it does have that distinct sound. This has a “lightly crunchy” clipping section that can be lifted out of the circuit by the clipping toggle switch. With clipping diodes enabled it has plenty of boost but if you disable the clipping section the boost available will slam the front end of any tube amp into sonic bliss. Drive wise it is high gain, but not extreme gain.
This pedal is very responsive to your touch and plays with your instruments volume and tone controls extremely well.
Use a standard 9 volt battery or 9 – 18 volt negative center DC adapter.
