With the Dystorpia, the folks at Noise Engineering have created a really cool and innovative pedal distortion (their debut in the stompbox realm and inspired by their Eurorack modules) and what’s probably the best-named pedal of the decade so far.
Wavefolding is a new thing in the world of distortion, but not necessarily the Eurorack one: in the Dustortpia, the Noise Engineering’s team has blended this extreme type of sonic saturation with other more conventional types, including Pura, a multi-band full-wave rectifier that adds a harmonic fuzz. A Freeze footswitch also allows you to loop a section of your signal with unexpected results.
The result is a unique circuit that can do grit and gnarl as well as chaotic sonic devastation, Doom-style.
