Lewis Del Mar’s Gear and Creative Process

After gracing (two thirds of) The Deli's 2016 SXSW issue's cover, Rockaway Beach, NY's experimental soul pop duo Lewis Del Mar had a pretty exciting year, culminating in the recent release of their self titled debut album, and the US and EU tour that follows it. The band turned ears in late 2015 with a series of memorable singles that blended an overall acoustic sound with electronic experimentation. We had the chance to ask them a few questions about their gear and creative process.

Buscabulla’s gear and creative process

With their sophisticated, bi-lingual synthpop, full of texture and pretty melodies, Puerto Rican duo Buscabulla - now Brooklyn residents - conquered The Deli NYC's staff, who declared their debut EP "Kitsune`" NYC Record of the Month in October 2014. Bands in the Studio: Skaters

---

SKATERS excitedly pronounces their name repeatedly on landing on their nondescript website. But once you've seen the pizza-loving video for 'Schemers,' you'll get a better idea for the sense of humor the trio is capable of. Shooting toy guns through confetti-soaked backgrounds, it's obvious this is a band looking for a party. And with this much energy, there can't be one far behind. The band was selected as The Deli writers' best band of 2012, and recently signed a deal with a major label. Be ready to get familiar with them.... Click on the title for more

Snowmine and the recording process

Like many contemporary Brooklyn based indie rock artists, Snowmine (featured on the cover of the summer 2012 issue of our sister site/publication The Deli) is very interested in the creative possibilities offered by the recording studio, but the results we hear on record showcase a band that masters the production process like few others. We took the time to ask them a few questions about their recording habits. - Read Paolo De Gregorio's Q&A with Snowmine here.... Click on the title for more

Lucius and the Recording Process

It's rare to see a band mature as fast as Lucius did. Started as a mellow and rather ordinary duo of female singer songwriters, this project in the last 2 years or so has expanded and grown in unexpected, abnormal yet wonderful ways. Their impressive performance at our Deli NYC B.E.A.F. 2011 event showcased a band that, with a little imagination in the arrangement and performance departments, can take traditional songwriting to an entirely new level. Music fans (and industry) seem to be noticing, since they have started to sell out shows in NYC and Austin during SXSW. The two ladies can write good songs and sing beautifully, and with the help of the two boys in the band, put on a show at once emotional and powerful.... Click on the title for more
