Audio Cultivation Project PALA Compressor

The Audio Cultivation Project PALA Compressor started as a commission for a transparent compressor without the pumping common to OTA-based designs, then spent three more years in development. It's still a compressor, but evolved to capture the feel of a loud amp in a reverberant room — that clean, edge-of-feedback…... Click for more

Mad Professor Simble MkII Overdrive

One of the most convincing D-Style compact pedals, the Mad Professor Simble, just like a real Dumble, lets you EQ the signal before or after the overdrive. New Pedal: Origin Effects EQ Deluxe

Most EQ pedals are utility. You cut some mud, boost a frequency, move on. The Origin Effects EQ Deluxe (also spelled EQDELUXE) is not that. It's based on the Pultec EQP-1a, a passive studio equalizer from the 1950s that engineers still hunt down because it doesn't just change your…... Click for more

Crazy Tube Circuits Triptychon

Crazy Tube Circuits, a Greek company that apparently learned electronics by staring at the sun and listening to Blue Cheer records, built this three-panel monster. It's not a pedal. It's a manifesto in a metal box. Enter the Crazy Tube Circuits Triptychon. Four fuzz voices in the center panel: ff is…... Click for more

This type of pedal, often…... Click for more

New Pedal: MXR Textures Granular Synth Engine

Most pedals take what you play and hand it back to you more or less intact. The MXR Textures does the opposite. It takes your signal, pulls it apart into tiny pieces called grains, and lets you rearrange them into something that barely resembles where you started. Inside the box…... Click for more

New Pedal: Greer Mori Drive

Mori means "forest" in Japanese. The name fits — this one's got a deep, woody midrange that feels like it belongs in the undergrowth of your pedalboard. Greer has been asked for years to build their take on that old vintage TS-style circuit with the famous mid hump. They finally…... Click for more
